I was interviewed on a few podcasts in March, talking confidence, perfectionism, and entrepreneurship. In 2018, I could not have imagined speaking on a podcast.
There's a global pandemic. It's a reality. Many changes are happening in the world for many people. That's a fact. For entrepreneurs, especially those in the online space, it can feel nerve-wracking to offer your product or service during "a time like this."
A year before I got certified as a Life Coach, I wanted to go for it. I remember crying to my friend on the phone in sheer terror that I’d never be able to do it. I was afraid to fail, to flop, to do all of this effort and all invest all of this time and money in to a dream that might not work. So I waited a full year.
In my first business – an online clothing store of products I designed – I made the mistake to take my confidence from what other people thought about me and my products. I was encased in self doubt and every sale of my clothing gave me this little spike of hope that I clung to. But… it never seemed to tip the scales.
Oh it’s possible to suffer your way to success. It’s possible to pressure your way to riches. Just like it’s possible to hate yourself thin. I mean, it’s incredibly rare – because it’s so difficult to take inspired, consistent, powerful, result-producing actions from misery, or self hate, or discouragement, but it’s possible.
